Dirty R&B song by The Pharmacy & Kimya featuring El Paso Hot Button
In 2004 our high school buddies The Pharmacy went on their first long national tour. Somehow involving a birthday party and a river rafting trip they ended up combing tours with Kimya Dawson, which had to be a dream for them…but being in a van with the Pharmacy for a month has it’s tolls I’m sure. I was sharing a room with Brendhan at the time, so it was pretty sweet to have the room to myself for a month(we had bunk beds, and we were awesome).
When they came back Brendhan had a pretty sweet collection of recordings from various houses and radio stations they played. Their cover of Vanessa Carlton’s “White Houses” was pretty cool…but I’m pretty sure that this rap song takes the cake.
I totally forgot that existed until I saw something Kimya posted about someone at a Slayer concert asking about the recording…which she hadn’t remembered singing. I sent her a copy and figured i better post one here so more people can enjoy this filthy gem!

It’s always super weird when a bunch of people that aren’t from Vashon Island are at a show on Vashon…it seems like a dream or something. This show was know exception. Ad the fact Michael and I are both pretty big Rocky Votolato fans and you have yourself a very surreal night. Not that the show wasn’t awesome…because it was.
Everyone that piled onto the hay bales in my parent’s barn were super stoked to be there and were all very pleasant and fun. A dude and his girlfriend even flew in from Denver for the night. They brought my dad a six-pack of tasty beer from Colorado, and we hung out after the show.
Rocky kicked butt per usual, and we didn’t embarrass ourselves in front of his fans too bad. All and all I think everyone had a great night! Our buddy Josh Kletzkin shot a bunch of video on his fancy cam…so maybe we’ll have something footage of the glorious night up soon.

About a year ago Rocky Votolato contacted us about playing with him at The Triple door in Seattle. We were super Stoked having both been huge Rocky fans for a long time. The show was super fun and we met all sorts of really nice Rocky fans at the show, one of which was our new buddy Shannon Stephens, whom we recently got to play the Sunset Tavern with.
Anyway…Rocky Votolato is an amazingly kind, awesome musician, and performer and he’s going to play with us on Vashon Island as part of his Living Room Shows series. It’s going to be super rad, so if you have an extra $20 to throw down (it’s going to be worth it) for this super intimate show on Vashon you should snag a ticket soon…’cause they’re not going to be around for very long!

Guess what?? Tour was super Awesome. Huge thanks to everyone that hosted us and came out to our shows on our 2 week West coast Jaunt! It was our first “full band” tour and even though we have some work to do…it was super fun
